Verisound™ Fleet
Centralized Ultrasound Device Management
TL;DR
I led the frontend development and design evolution for Verisound™ Fleet, a large-scale medical device management platform. Working closely with GE HealthCare’s product managers and engineering team, I helped translate complex backend machine data and authorization APIs into an intuitive web interface. My focus was on bridging the gap between sophisticated technical capabilities and the clinical need for a centralized, user-friendly hub.
Impact
The platform revolutionized hospital operations by replacing a manual configuration process that previously took an average of 1.5 hours per device. By enabling remote, fleet-wide management, the solution eliminated the need for on-site visits and manual USB updates. This was proven at St. Luke’s University Health Network, where the platform quickly made system-wide changes to 49 ultrasound devices across a 50-mile radius. This task previously would have required days of travel and manual labor.
Description
Verisound™ Fleet was developed as a secure, cloud-integrated platform to solve the "loneliness" of medical devices—such as ultrasounds, MRIs, and ventilators that lacked a centralized way to communicate. We built what is essentially a social network for medical devices, a hub where critical equipment can "find" others, form groups, and share status updates. This architecture functions much like a Facebook for medical machines, allowing professional Biomeds to monitor and manage life-saving equipment from a single location without the FOMO associated with disconnected device data.
The interface utilizes a tile-based dashboard where administrators can use drag-and-drop functionality to organize devices into fleets, a process akin to managing Alexa smart home groups. Within the application, users can view detailed configuration history, edit device properties, and remotely push updates to individual units or entire fleets. By providing this unified digital ecosystem, the platform allows clinical teams to standardize care and optimize asset management across multiple departments and sites.
